Q. How much will it cost to attend the class?
A. The cost for participation is $3500. However, a limited number of fellowships are available under a grant provided by The Coca-Cola Company.
Q. Will class sizes be limited?
A. There will be appoximately 30-40 people in each class.
Q. How much time will I need to dedicate?
A. Five days - one day per month for five months.
Q. What will I learn in class?
A. A curriculum developed by Dr. R. Roosevelt Thomas Jr., president of the American Institute for Management Diversity, is designed to build diversity leadership skills and competencies to effectively address diversity mixtures and tensions and lead quality decision regarding diversity.
Q. What are the prerequisites to attend this class?
A. The Academy is open to leaders from all sectors within the Atlanta community, including those from government, education, non-profit and the private sector. The Academy's selection criteria places particular emphasis on leaders who are positioned to influence the direction, quantity and rate of change through diversity management in their organizations and in the community at large.
Q. Who will conduct the class?
A. A team of instructors certified in Dr. Thomas' Strategic Diversity Management Process instruct the classes with Dr. Thomas serving as the lead facilitator.
Q. What is the expected outcome of participating in the DLAA program?
A. Benefits to Academy Participants:
Enhanced readiness to provide leadership around diversity issues in his/her organization.
Enhanced readiness to participants in and to influence community dialogue on diversity issues.
Enhanced understanding of what will be required to increase his/her organization's capability to address diversity effectively.
Enhanced readiness to address personal diversity issues, such as those related to family and neighborhood.
